What to learn Java or Scala

I have been working for five years as a manual tester with a little touch of automation in python. Now I want to become a programmer. And I do not know what to choose to study. It seems that I know python at the level of creating scripts for crawling data from sites and creating a simple blog on Dzhang, but I want something else. :) I chose, chose and realized that only Java is normally paid in our city. Pythonists, even mega gurus, don’t get much from us, and in freelancing, not everything is as constant as we would like.
Here is my question. Maybe instead of Java, start learning Scala? The syntax seems to be almost the same, the functionality can then be connected. Or well, nafig, because without normal programming experience, I won’t understand half of the Scala chips, but without experience, prom. Who needs programming from Scala?
PS: Or instead of all this javascript & etc? :)

It’s better to start with Java
You won’t climb the Rock right away :)
I recommend that you start with Java, in the process of learning the basic concepts and principles of programming will be formed, and only then jump to Scala, besides, as we know, it compiles to Java byte code and uses many things from Java
But it is worth noting that a full-fledged transition from Java to Scala is not so simple. Scala is not just an extension of Java with syntactic sugar, it is a complete set of concepts that combines the principles of object-oriented and functional programming.
