What to learn before studying discrete mathematics?

Now I'm learning Java.
I want to get a base on dismat, algorithms. Googled that B.N.'s book is good at this. Ivanov, with the same name. Bought the 2007 edition. Before that, once upon a time, I read another book on dismat, everything was chewed there (what the coefficients and indices mean), but here, right in the fire, nothing is explained. (that somewhere sowed).
The algebraic sum, for example, is also unfamiliar to me, and there are expressions from the second page with it.
At school, I didn’t think at all that it would be interesting for me, but now I’m suffering, but I also want to and prick.
What is the minimum I need to study to understand this book?
Thank you very much for reading my question :)

@keltkelt

Try to take a course on the steppe . An excellent introduction to discrete mathematics.
