What to do with .well-known folders when moving a site to another domain?
The task was to transfer the site from the local server to the hosting, where the site had already been installed, the modified version of which I need to upload to the current domain. I prepared all the files for transfer, but when checking the host via ftp, I found, in addition to the standard wordpress files, the .well-known, cgi-bin and admin folders, after reading, I found out that the .well-known folder is responsible for generating the ssl certificate. What to do with these folders when installing a new site on the same domain (I install using duplicator) and should these folders be deleted along with all the old content?

If you do not plan to generate a certificate, i.e. for example, the SSL certificate is provided by hosting, then the folder can not be copied.
If you have a VPS, then you probably need it. But since you ask such a question, then most likely the folders are not needed.
And what prevents copying with and without folders, if it works without, then it is not needed))
The folder .well-known
is created manually or by the CertBot bot to confirm that the domain belongs to you - when automatically generating and renewing a free SSL certificate from Lets Encrypt . For the site to work on https://
Do not delete it.
On hosting, this directory is created in order to place a file there, from a certification center. You can delete everything after the release of the certificate.
