What tips and suggestions in learning the Python3 language can you offer?

Good afternoon!

I want to turn to you with this request: I decided to learn the basics of programming and they immediately advised me the Python3 language, as it is considered not as difficult as everyone else. I want to surprise you that I am a pensioner, I am 64 years old (you will probably laugh that I decided to do this at that age), but this is interesting to me. I myself reinstalled Windows, and now I demolished it and installed Linux Mint, and I was very surprised and delighted that it is much better and easier and does not create almost any problems. I went to your site https://pythonru.com/uroki where there are free lessons of this language. I started from the first lesson, but they give examples, one of which is a test for knowledge of Python, for me it’s somehow not entirely clear and I panicked a little. But then I downloaded the book from Cory Althoff's Telegram "My own programmer" from the link, and I began to understand slowly, I immediately began to act according to the book, write examples, and everything immediately began to work out. I started learning with great pleasure, I read, I take notes, I immediately write examples. All in all, everything is going great. But I would like to hear advice or a wish. I don’t know how long it will take me to learn this language, but I would like to know in what area to be determined later. The author of the book writes that after graduation, most do not know what they want. I understand that everything will start with simple programs, most likely in the process of studying it will already be necessary to try to start creating something. What would you advise me? In what area is it best to try to determine. Having learned your opinion, I will simply collect information and, in parallel with the training, I will plan ahead, so to speak. Something like that.

It is unlikely that you will work, young competitors are right there) Maximum freelancing, but since there will be a hobby.
Most likely, it will be more difficult to learn the language than at the age of 20. If you don’t get bored and devote at least an hour or two a day, then in a month it will be possible to rivet boots for VKontakte / carts. After this step, it will be possible to pull up django and write a couple of sites. At least with registration, personal account. For example, a simple social network or an online store.
Well, and, probably, if you have not yet been familiar with programming, then, probably, someday you will come to the conclusion that you will need to study a little computer science, because. without understanding something at a more or less low level, it is difficult to move on from writing something primitive.
And don't forget that a programmer needs practice. I studied the section - make a project of some thread that will combine your knowledge.

You have found a useful hobby.
IMHO, you need to look towards Data Scientist - this is "an expert in analytical data who has the technical skills to solve complex problems, as well as the curiosity that helps to set these problems" ( https://habr.com/en/post/477818/ )
If you have a basic technical education obtained under the Soviets, then you should understand statistics well and have a statistical style of thinking, which is not taught in any bursa now. This is a major advantage.
Look at John Paul Mueller. Python for Dummies, 2nd ed. : Per. from English. -2019. -416 p.: ill.
There is an initial information about the toolkit.

Thank you for your frank answer, so to speak, although I was ready for such an answer! You know, I was just interested! I sit for 2-2.5 hours a day, immediately from the book I do the exercises that are written there. I understand that it will be difficult, but I'm not used to it. Well, you surprised me with the answer that if you take a couple of hours a day and write something in a month! I will make every effort to try to write something in 2-3 months. Tell me, can I turn to you for advice or can you advise someone specifically? All in all I totally understand, thank you!

This is all cool, of course, really))
But you didn’t say the most important thing, why do you need to learn python now, and, in principle, any other language?
What is your goal?
Kolyma, getting a job, solving some of your problems? And now they will advise ..... that the head will swell

I can recommend the hexlet Python-programmer course , it's paid, but it's worth it, I study there myself, there is practice, tasks, plus a community in slack.
