What technology to choose to implement a web interface designer?

At the university, I received a task for a semester to implement desktop applications with minimal functionality in a web designer.
Something similar to draw.io, only an order of magnitude simpler.
Tell me, please, in the direction of which technologies does it make sense to look?
Perhaps there are some ready-made jQuery libraries that will help simplify the implementation process?
