What technologies / libraries are needed for a java application server?

I would like to write a simple application server for the client in the form of an android application, but I have no experience in this. By application server, I mean the Presentation Tier + Business Tier bundle as java EE. The server should just send a picture, register texts. Recommend articles, libraries. Thanks
