What software for a home media server / file storage on linux is relevant in 2018?

Good evening.
I want to take the hard drives from the working computer into the corridor, let them buzz there.
In this regard, I decided to build a media server / torrent downloader / file cleaner. Hardware: j3455 processor, 2GB of memory. he will also raise pppoe as a router, and possibly openvpn.
As dlna, I think mediatomb, torrent client transmission
How relevant is this software in 2018?
Maybe there are more relevant options? (all control will be only over the network, no monitors, keyboards and other things are planned)

It is probably more relevant to use some kind of Synology Diskstation, almost everything is there, except for network stray, but for this, again, there is a Mikrotik for example. The software is quite relevant, it’s just that no one is doing anything new in this direction due to simple unpopularity / uselessness.
I also have such junk in my apartment buzzing, I want to change it for a long time to synology and hdmi whistle to the telly - less noise and hemorrhoids

On j3455, Nas4free plows perfectly, installation on a flash drive from 2GB, utilization of the flash drive only for the launch period, then the flash drive is not used. Thus, all hdd ports are available.
#adorable Nas4free has
it all, if you don't want another desktop computer in the hallway, forget about mediatomb and transmission))))

Debian 9, samba, transmission, minidlna.
You can also tie lighttpd with php and h5ai in order to rummage through folders beautifully through the browser.
To configure all the goodness, you can put webmin.
For graphs, monitorix can be added.
I use a similar system myself. The brother is alive, there is an addiction.
And add at least 4 gigabytes of memory, otherwise you will run into a disk when there is not enough RAM for the cache.

As a dlna - plex media server, perhaps the best media server I've ever met :) as a nas - openmediavault is even nothing.

OpenMediaVault has it all.

Small case, CentOS, KVM, you want at least Nas4free in it, at least something, I have a CentOS + OwnCloud guest. Tired - away with the guest. On the host, Samba is also the simplest.
Yes, there is also QNAP - a wonderful thing. For the house it is better than the server. BUT! Buzzing cooler like a helicopter. In summer especially. If you take Synology / QNAP, take the fanless one.
