What software do you use to write books?

For writing your book, what would you recommend under OSX?

word.
A very powerful tool, but most don't use it to its full potential (although it would save them time).

By the way, if a scientific book and a lot of formulas/mathematics - then Latex+Git. As the saying goes, hard to learn, easy to fight. Of course, it is more suitable for articles, but the potential of the bundle is very large.

Don't know about OSX. In Windows - for typing Notepad / Word, for Word spelling, for PageMaker / InDesign layout, for sending PDF to a printing house.

If you want to support Open Source, then OpenOffice, LibreOffice
Free and you can write right away. Just save the book as pdf.
