It also usually requires a lot of experience in Maya. Some studios don't care where you create effects and model, but Houdini and Maya for creating VFX are used everywhere by default. The rest of the software already depends on the specialization: NUKE for compositing, MARI for texturing, Renderman, Arnold and Mental Ray for rendering, Zbrush for sculpting, UV layout for creating scans.
