What skills do you need to get a job in the IT department of a bank?
Hello!
I am a 2nd year student. I study in the specialty Infocommunication technologies and communication systems. In addition to the university, I independently study Linux administration, sql and study at the Cisco Network Academy courses at the university. I want to get a job in my specialty. The question is: what skills are required to work in the IT department of a bank? What to study for this? What skills to pump?

Greetings!
"The question is: what skills are required to work in the IT department of a bank? What to study for this? What skills to pump?"
1) The IT departments of the bank differ from the IT departments of other companies in their increased requirements for security, reliability and fault tolerance. Get out of this.
2) Knowledge of the banking business will be useful and will help in career growth. Business loves to have its language spoken.
3) Study the vacancy you want to get into, compare with your skills. If the position is interesting, develop those areas in which you are weak.
From my own experience, I can say that only experienced administrators are engaged in "serious" work in the bank, so in view of the lack of experience, get ready to work as a helpdesk. If this is unacceptable to you, look for an internship.
I warn you right away: the banking business is a very difficult and nervous sector.
Good luck.
Why a bank? When I moved to "come in large numbers", I was interviewed as an engineer in a bank. The requirements were slightly above average, quite an interesting job (hardware + software), BUT when they announced the salary, I got up and left
. ) It is better to get an internship with some IT giant
you go to the vacancy section and there all the skills are painted on a silver platter
We open vacancies of interest, look at the requirements, and we dance from this: we read a lot, write a lot, look a lot on the topic.
Usually, the job description contains sufficient detail and a list. Plus, there are also sections "minimal knowledge" and "desirable"
