What size to create the content part of the site?

Tell me what size it is now desirable to make the content part of the site, I understand that now I need to do adaptive design for several resolutions, but for example, I make the content part size 1200px for a resolution of 1920x1080, then for a resolution of 1280x1024 I have to cut the length of the content part, or even switch to fullscreen content? And then in the topic of site permissions, I finally got confused.

The size of the content part depends on the amount of content. For example, bashorg is 740px wide, mail.ru is 1280px, and the personal account (or whatever it is called) adsense.google.com generally stretches to the full width of the monitor / monitors.

For most sites, in my opinion, making some kind of mega-adaptive layout is too expensive.
Therefore, usually, a monitor of the minimum size is taken in width (in terms of the number of pixels, of course) and dances from this size. Those. if the minimum monitor you want to support is 1280px, then the width of the site is usually 1280px minus the scrollbar size (~1200px).
It is clear that the smaller the "minimum size" is taken, the greater the number of users will see everything as you intended, but the less content will fit on the screen. So choose depending on the audience and content.

The bootstrap grid is a good guideline.
