What should be the width of the site (content zone)?

I understand Design for about a month, and one question remains unclear to me. What width to make for the site (content zone). I heard about 960 and 980px, but I also heard that they don't do that anymore. I understand that depending on the resolutions of devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC), you need to make at least 4 layouts for different devices. I would like to know what to make the width of the site for PC (1920px)? It's hard, so much information. Up to "Do 980px", "Do 1200 or 1170px" or even "Just subtract from 1920 subtract the size of the scroll and a couple of dozen pixels (calculate yourself). But I'm sure there is some standard that I can't find. Help!

There are no special standards. After 1200 you can switch to tablet mode.
