What should an asp.net mvc core developer know?

I am a 1C developer who decided to learn something more interesting. At the university I studied c# a little and decided to try something from .net.

At the moment, I have read Adam Freeman's book Asp.net core mvc 2 with examples for professionals, I thoughtfully repeated most of the examples, but I have little idea what to do next - without commercial projects and business requirements, there is no idea what to take on:
Is it necessary to study something either from the frontend, in order to make at least some visual part, or you need to learn some frameworks, nuget packages, or maybe you need to try something else.

The ultimate goal is to retrain and change the current branch of activity, but first I want to find some kind of base
