What should a Python beginner do? How to train?

I started recently (a month ago) to learn programming. I ran into such a problem that I don’t know what to do from practice, what tasks to come up with. How to train? Throw a couple of tasks for a beginner.

Come up with a real task and start implementing it, if the task is not thought up, then github will help you - find an interesting project and participate.

For the sake of practice and just for fun, I am writing a simple utility for linux to manage ssh and invite more experienced colleagues in python to discuss everything that I have done. Python has its own "atmosphere" both in the language and in the community. After java, php, c++ and other languages, the "right way" in python is difficult without mentors.
I will leave a link in case it is useful to someone, or there is a desire to join the revision, discussion, suggestions, etc. (note: 2.x branch)
