What scenarios for scaling Wordpress in Docker containers have you used for yourself in production?

There is a lot of material on how to deploy WP in Docker locally or on a single server and practically nothing about how to scale this economy as it grows.
If someone has already mastered this task, then I would be infinitely grateful for advice in which direction to look. If CD and Rancher were added to this, it would be simply grandiose.

I'm not particularly strong in docker. However, I don’t really understand how this differs from normal scaling?
DB in 1 docker. Let her live while she is young without sharding and plastic surgery.
If php started to bend - docker with nginx balancer and 2-3 dockers with php app.
The next question is how to do code deploy on 3 docker php app. Probably the same GlusterFS here.

And on what services will spin - KVM, OpenVZ, Docker or Vagrant in general - probably not so important.
