What's the deal with google smtp to register on sites now?
Previously (in development with a local server) I used to register a user on the google smtp website. There were no problems. Now tried from the working server. The box from which the user was supposed to receive a message about registration confirmation received a warning from Google that they tried to enter the box from another country (where the server is), and the attempt was heroically prevented. Accordingly, the registration was not confirmed.
I rummaged through the Google help, and the impression was that Google would not welcome the use of its mail in this capacity.

Well, for the first time, such restrictions suit me.
But how do I set up smtp on our Google side if I'm not a Google Apps user? (there is an instruction for those who are).
Does anyone use google smtp to sign up for work sites? Or what should be used? Share your experience.

Ept, what are you trying to do? First, probably still not SMPT, but SMTP. Secondly, using SMTP to send any system things is bad manners. For these purposes, there is at least a bundle in the form of mail + DKIM + SPF (all this must be correctly configured once and then forgotten), or if you don’t want to bother with setting up your server, then there is the well-known Mandrill. The rest is wellcome in the comments.
