What programs are used to create such a video?

There is this video.
I'm not interested in how it's projected, but how the video itself is created. As far as I understand, the room, all other 3D elements are created in 3dmax, but in what program is it all animated, transformed?
I can imagine how this is done in After Effects (very difficult and dreary), but is it possible to do this in another program to make it easier? Would it be easier to use some existing 3D game engine (UE4) to create the scenery, lighting and animate it all?

Well, yes. 3D is just the beginning, then compositing in AE or Apple Motion, and post-processing in FinalCut or DaVinci Resolve, or anything else that has motion tracking functions. And it is clearly used for dynamic camera movement.
