What programming languages are used in various branches of the military-industrial complex?

Is it really only C and Asm wherever MK and FPGAs are programmed - for which Verolog / VHDL, but what about other languages? why can't you use functional languages or something like D?

@gbg

We still need to look for a development team in D.
A compiler from D to some MCS51 still needs to be looked for.
And many other problems. If you want to efficiently program hardware - use C or C++.
Super-efficient - assembler.
By "efficiency" here is meant the maximum use of the capabilities of iron to solve the problem. And not creating a pillow for low-skilled programmers and (or) a manager with a shortage of time at the expense of strong hardware.

From Wikipedia:

Ada is a programming language created in 1979-1980 as part of a project by the US Department of Defense to develop a unified programming language for embedded systems.

PS In defiance of the Americans with their language of Hell, the Russian Algorithmic Language was created in Russia - the language of PARADISE =)
