What programming language or even technology stack is the most legacy-friendly?

Dear experts, it is very interesting to receive answers based on concrete examples. I ask you to perceive the compatibility of versions of languages and technologies in a moderate time frame, without the Mesozoic. Suppose there is a language for which version 2.xx was wildly popular, but with the release of version 3.xx literally everything (or critically a lot) has changed and technologies of the 2.xx period are now considered only for the sake of support.

You are coming from the wrong side.
It's not about the language, but about the libraries used, first of all.
For the sake of incomprehensible ephemeral new features, no one dreams of facing a situation that a dozen other out of 100,500 libraries in use categorically do not want to work in the new version.
Even if the difference between the versions of the language is small and it would seem that there are no problems....
