What problems can there be with asterisk in a virtual environment?

I plan to implement IP telephony, there is a physical server available but its capacity is too much for pbx, I wondered about raising it in a virtual environment using sip providers!
E1 is not planned to be used.
What are the problems when using pbx in a virtual environment? who faced?

Today there will be no problems with modern virtualization systems.
Previously, there could be problems with timings and time running away.
KVM, Hyper-V or VMWARE ESXi - doesn't matter. And, of course, a fresh guest machine for Asterisk. CentOS7, Debian 8, etc.
I also recommend that you pay attention to the DOCKER tool (containerization). It is easy to use, modern and very interesting as a replacement for classical virtualization. Has some very clear benefits.

Previously, as far as I know, there were problems with DAHDI equipment (analogue, digital - I don’t know how it is now), but if nothing like this will be used (only sip will be), then simply use virtualization.

periodic "failures" in the voice - the most frequent occurrence.
twitching when playing IVR
openvz, lxc (and others at the OS level) without consequences

As I understand it, the TS has the initial period of acquaintance with Asterisk.
2 ways:
1 So far, you are setting up a physical server on Linux, then after playing enough, you can easily virtualize it using the same VMWare Converter standalone.
2. Raise the virtual machine right away, then you can already tighten it into ESXI or somewhere else during production.
I confirm that there are not so many lags lately, customers without exception use virtual machines for their Elastix.
