What platform are IB trading bots made on (using the Python API)?

Hello to everyone who is in the subject!
I want to write a trading bot for IB, but it requires a GUI for TWS (?) so I need to install either Ubuntu Desktop and use VNC on the VPS, which is frankly heavy, or install some LXDE on Ubuntu Server, which also don’t work fine for me ( require root, do not run from under the user).
In general, please share your experience - how to set up an environment for such a bot. What is better to choose? Mb in general Windows?)))
