www.xmind.net/ - there is a completely free version, two heads better than freemind.

xmind - Program and service. There is both a paid version and a free one. In terms of convenience, FreeMind is much better.

FreeMind, free and good.
I tried MindJet MindManager, it's beautiful, of course, but too heaped up and fucked up, apparently, to justify the cost.

I have been trying different programs for several years and so far I have chosen only `The Brain 7` and `Nova Mind 5` for my needs, because there is the possibility of relative connections, if I put it correctly. In the same `MindManager` this is implemented very inconveniently ("Relationship"), and the best implementation of this is in `The Brain 7`. But while testing it and see if it is convenient in terms of speed. In `MindManager` I liked the speed of creation, and a particularly good tool there - "Brainstorming", but often I had to take a look at some things - such as better placement of topics so that they fit on the screen, especially on a netbook (10.1 ").
So, if you need a tree structure of cards, then any of the pop options will suit you. But in the case when you need an object (topic) to be a child of more than one object (topic, yeah), then I haven’t seen `The Brain` better yet.
Recurrent links are also well organized in `Nova Mind 5`, if I am not stupid with the meaning of this term. That is, there is an opportunity to establish relations (Relationships) of an object with itself (!!! there is no such feature in MindManager when creating a relationship).
Another marker board is a good thing!
But the pen + drawing paper - IMHO, not the best option, because it is impossible to edit, you can only cross out. Not to mention the change of places "topics".
Good luck to you and your brain, whatever you start there)

A very simple and neat utility.
It is convenient that it is possible to export to an image or PDF. Available

If you don’t feel sorry for the money - MindManager,
If it’s a pity - XMind,
FreeMind is a “classic” open source, it can do a lot, but the interface is very poor.

MindManager is good, but too cumbersome, and the Outlook plugin is also buggy on some systems. So xMind.

freemind.
Very easy to use (especially if you use the keyboard to create branches, edit and more).
Works fast despite being written in Java. A friend also uses Freemind, because it is convenient, and he has FreeBSD. In general, cross-platform is also a plus.
