What materials would you recommend for learning Android development?

Good afternoon. Ask for advice from knowledgeable people. How to start learning Android development? I know Java at an intermediate level and would like to switch to learning Android. According to books, they say it is better not to study, since outdated information is given there. Is this really true, or are there some books that are worth paying attention to? Is it worth continuing to write in Java, or is it better to switch to Kotlin right away? These questions torment me, I don’t know where to start ( Please advise resources that will give basic Android development skills, which present not outdated material, but what is really practiced now. I am new to all this, so I want to find the best way to study. Thank you in advance for advice.

You have to study from books. You can start with "Head First. Programming for Android" by Griffiths, and deepen by reading "Android. Programming for Professionals" by Hardy and Phillips.

Courses on Udacity from Google. There are several levels of difficulty, everything is clearly explained. Perhaps the first lessons will seem too simple, but then on the rise. There are tasks and discussions of these tasks, and answers to them with explanations. The course was free half a year ago, I don’t know how it is now. It's in English, but you can watch it with subtitles.
