What language to choose for scripts on the knee?

Such a thing ... In general, I write under Android. In Java, of course. This is a good language for its purposes, but more and more often I have thoughts like: "This could be automated", "It would be nice to parse this thing from this page." It is very wasteful to do all these knee-jerk one-time java scripts, so I want to learn something like python in my free time, maybe even it. What is fashionable there now and will work on Windows?
