What is the www folder in Denver for?

In general, the fact is that I'm wondering why in order to open a site via LAN you need to place it in the www folder in Denver (I understand that this is configured in the config and means world wide web, i.e. "World Wide Web")! but here the point is not that it bothers me, etc. but simply that I am very inquisitive, so who knows the history of why it happened, please answer!

Because denver is a set of niks services assembled to work in a windows environment. And on Unix systems, it so happened that the /var/www folder was the root folder of the webserver. And to avoid confusion, the name was retained.

Apache had htmldoc by default.
If you want to know the exact answer, contact the author of Denver, discuss with him the history of this, but I think you yourself have already answered your question about www.
