What is the role of W3SVC?

After updating Windows 7 → Windows 10, I found out when trying to start a local server that port 80 was busy. After googling, I found the culprit - W3SVC Web Publishing Service.
Disabled it, but the question is, what role does it play, will its disabling become a problem in the future?

As oia wrote, these are pieces of IIS. The question is what is he doing there ... And you try to turn it back on and go to the localhost :) In general, I suspect this is some kind of Win Update distribution system.
