It seems that the problem is with the USB WiFi adapter and / or its driver. Also, life can spoil the nvidia driver (although it doesn't look like it). Try to either rearrange the kernel, or change WiFi.
Well, I would like to know the configuration of the computer, the version of the kernel and the system that is running. Also what drivers are installed, the output of lsmod.
