For a computer, I wrote a simple messenger in Java over a TCP connection, where encryption was based on a key that the program took on a separate server, where this key was updated hourly (and only a few knew about the server), and messages did not go through an intermediary server, but were assigned by the server host of one of the people who started writing - but this is purely an individual solution for a small group (or two) of people
