What is the least resource-intensive solution for running a virtual machine?

My setup is Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit, i5-3210M, 4 GB, 120 SSD (yes, I know, I need hardware).
I need Windows exclusively to run Photoshop, preferably in something like Unity mode (so that the running program is in a separate Ubuntu window, and not the entire system is drawn).
What to choose - Virtualbox or VMware? What version of Windows (7, 8, 10), what bitness?
I tried a couple of configurations, but I would like to make a decision not subjectively, but on the basis of some reliable information and professional advice. Maybe there are solutions I don't know about?

Just in case, I would also recommend Wine . Moreover, install the latest versions of Wine (1.8.x in Ubuntu) using PPA . If everything works smoothly, then you will generally save memory and other computer resources.
