What is the job of a DBA SQL DBA?

Good afternoon!
Please, no cooler. I want to ask, among the vacancies of programmers I sometimes meet the vacancies of a DBA database administrator. As I understand it, they must know the SQL query language well and work with some kind of database.
I studied SQL, incl. comes in handy when working with MS SQL, but usually I perform simple queries.
In general, tell us what the essence of this profession is, where they work, what technologies and knowledge a DBA programmer should have and what he does in general, what databases are trending now, is the work difficult, what is its complexity, and in general what are the prospects for the labor market for developer data?
The purpose of the question is the transition from system administration to developers, but many people advise not to go into the web because of competition, enterprise, java, 1c for me, I think it will be very difficult, because you need to endlessly learn and relearn, so I want to learn about this profession, maybe pull up sql, study the database and subsequently enter this area.
Thank you all for your opinions and replies.

rub until you are completely satisfied (c), especially chapter 7 in the second
and then you accept that in some Oracle (without mysql) this chapter 7 is the BASIC occupation of DBA
in general - the second book is a good start to enter the profession, although, they say, the first is simply not know how to cook
