What is the difference between the Direct Selection tool and the Group Selection tool in Adobe Illustrator in batch editing?

Hello! Just started to study this wonderful program, so do not judge strictly. I looked at each of these tools separately, but I don’t understand what is the difference when you edit a group?
In principle, both the Direct Selection Tool and the Group Selection Tool in a group can edit individual objects in the group, then what's the point of the Group Selection Tool?
