What is the difference between Deploy Solution and Publish?

Good afternoon! I'm learning c# and it's a bit unclear what is the difference in Visual Studio between the Deploy Solution and Publish commands? I have always used publish to, for example, deploy a project to iis. But what does deploy... do in this case?
