What is the difference between caching through proxy_cache and through fastcgi_cache in nginx if we only cache static?

The question is stupid by its nature, why drive statics, for example, through fastcgi? This will kill any productive server on minimal online.
It’s better to send statics directly from ngikns without any proxy, and even more so it’s impossible through fastcgi
