What is the correct way to write an extension for Simulink?

I want to add an add-on for Simulink, similar to those that exist for Arduino or Raspberry, and so on.
My task is much easier. me, I just want to overtake the block diagram from the simulink into a specific type of xml file in order to seriously simplify my life when configuring one device.
I can't find any information or even a tutorial on how such add-ons are developed. Has anyone done this?
