What is the correct way to place windows xp in a git repository?

There is a task to store software on one OS that clearly conflicts with each other. As part of the experiment, I decided to try to split the HDD into several sections.
- winXP for storing the final version of the OS
- linux (root)
- linux (home)
flight is normal, but checkout from one branch to another takes a very long time. The difference in one branch is 30GB of installed software, in another 50GB.
Is there any way to optimize the switching and in general did someone try to do something like this?

You are doing some bullshit. Discover configuration management systems like puppet, ansible, chef...
