What is the best way to specify the database host?

Hello, there are many sites, and for all sites there is one database server, they are developing rapidly and have increased the database server twice in a year, transferred it, etc. and each time you have to change the settings for connecting to the database in the site settings, or rather its host. At the moment, the IP address is indicated.
Now there is an idea to specify in the site settings not the IP address, but the domain. The question is, will specifying the domain somehow affect the performance of connecting to the database? After all, it will take time for the DNS server to convert the domain into an IP address.
