What is the Best Way to Organize Geolocation?

So what is the Best Way to organize geolocation? A beginner, the examples from developer.android.com/training/location/index.html do not start, and in general the path is not very clear (use only google play services or there are better solutions). How to get the current (not just the last known) current coarse (network) location once?
