What is the best way to load a font - from google fonts or from your host?
Greetings.
There is an Ubuntu font and I'm thinking how to upload it to the site. There are options:
1. Download it from Google.Fonts.
2. Download it from off. site, remove extra characters and add to your host and load from there. In this version, there is one small problem - the distance between the letters is slightly different between the processed font and the font from Google.
I like the second option more - it’s more reliable on my host, I think so, but I’m not sure. Therefore, I ask for your advice in choosing an option, if possible, with an explanation.
Will the font on its host load faster than from Google? Were there any problems with downloading a font from Google (any interruptions)? Is the same font downloaded from Google cached by the user when visiting different sites, or even if a font from Google was embedded on one site, this will not mean that it will already be in the site user's cache?

But I know myself, cdn connection loads the site faster, as it is popular and the fonts are saved in the user's browser cache
When telegrams were blocked a couple of years ago, there were massive problems with the operation of sites using the Google cdn.
Yes, there is a chance that the font will be cached on the user's computer, but with local placement it is somehow calmer.
This also applies to scripts.
