Regarding “ import vs LINK”, there is an article on Habré, where it is recommended to connect via “LINK”.
Fonts are included in css via the @font-face property .
File formats:
.eot - IE6+
.woff2 - Android 37, Chrome 41+, Opera 27+
.woff - IE9+, FF3.6+, Chrome 6+, Opera 11.10+
.ttf - FF3.5+, Chrome 4+, Safari 3.1+ .svg - Chrome 4+, Opera 10+
, iPhone, iPad, Safari -font-generator.com/
If you use Cyrillic fonts, then after conversion, be sure to check the files, because some converters cannot work with Cyrillic.

The first comment answers the question perfectly. I’ll add on my own - if you need to make the site more nimble - we edit the font, clearing it of extra characters, and connect it via @font-face, but you need to edit it very carefully and thoughtfully.
