What is the best way to develop a game?

Hello!
Resolve the dispute.
Which is better to create a game - Unity3D (using C #) - at a more complex level, or on Game Maker?
A dispute broke out with a friend - he does not listen to me about the conveniences when using C # and Unity, arguing "I feel more comfortable in Game Maker, and I don't need to take a steam bath."
I myself came to desktop development from the web, so an association immediately appeared for me:
Some of the offices of a powerful IT company.
- What will we develop a new project on? ASP.NET, JS frameworks, or canonical PHP?
- And let's play on the website builder. It's easier.
Tell me - am I right in my beliefs regarding game development in C languages (that the use of C is preferable to the constructor).

There is no single right answer, it's how you prioritize:
* release a game and learn how to use a game maker
* release a game and gain development experience in unity and C#
Find out if everything you want to implement can be implemented through game maker.
Find out if you have enough experience and patience to implement everything you want in C#/Unity and
make a decision.

On what you like - on that and better.
If Game Maker is convenient and fully satisfies the needs, then I see no problems in using it.

What is more convenient to hammer in a nail - a sledgehammer or a hammer?
And any sane person will first ask - "what nail?". Because the tool depends on the nail.
So, it depends on the game. I'll tell you more - a situation is quite possible when neither a hammer nor a sledgehammer will suit you - and you will take some Marmalade thread or even write your own dviglo.
It all depends on the goals and needs.
And by the way - C# is not a language of the C family. And the language is another tool, and again holivars are superfluous here - first we look at the goals. For example, writing a browser in languages of the C family is not a fact that it will be better.
