MODX

What is the best way to deal with a site on MODx?

We have a site hosted on MODX Evolution 1.0.5. The site is working, the page is in the index, with keywords in high positions.
I would like to update the design. There are laid-out pages, styles, and more.
What is the correct way to do it, roll all new templates and chunks onto an existing site, or take a new modx revo and gradually create pages in it with the same names and sections as on the old one?
Both options are creepy and equally gemmoroyno.

take the sitemap.xml sitemap - all the CNC pages are already written there. Add to Excel tables for example. Leave the date of addition and CNC field, in another table upload all the titles of articles and the date of addition. Filter, connect. And according to this list, go and do it, noting what is done, what is not.
What is the page size? Maybe it's easier to find someone? We have PC operators (actually in the region) in our company, they do this.

Option two. The only thing is not to forget about the 301 redirect and not to mess with the url hierarchy

I agree about the revo. The admin panel is more convenient, and, indeed, the ability to install something from the repository with one click, but, of course, the sequence of actions scares me - describe the structure of the site "as it is now" and clearly adhere to it. I just do not quite understand even how to copy one to one. Draw the current one on paper?) Rewrite all CNC transliterated. The work is so-so. But yes. I would like, of course, already in Revo

I did this:
On a separate domain (3rd level for example) I raised a copy of the site, made all the changes in design, templates, chunks in it. Then I just switched to the new version (paths to public_html). Or you can just copy the files and reload the database.

If the site does not have many page templates, snippets, plugins and modules, then the easiest way is to transfer using a provisioner
