What is the best textbook for learning algorithms?

I have Cormen and Leyzerson, but I've heard a lot about Knutt - what's the best place to start? Painfully huge work from Cormen.

if the cormen is huge, then it is better to postpone the whip for now)
the cormen also has a mini-book "algorithms. introductory course". You can start with it too. And there already think whether it is necessary or not)

I advise e-maxx.ru/algo/: normal explanations, almost without tedious theory and proofs, working implementations in a real language are also there.
