What is the beep in Python - \a?

Greetings
Several times I came across control codes like a new line - \n (everything is clear with this). Some codes are incomprehensible, for example - \a (beep). Please explain how it works.

I solved the problem in this way (a temporary solution because there is no way to install a physical home server yet):
1. I have hosting on fozzy.com. In the same place, in addition to the blog and mail, ownCloud is still spinning with such important applications for me as: Contacts (in standard Kontact sneakers everything clings perfectly), Calendar (in the same way), SMS (there is an Android client that backs up sms there), Tomboy notes (a great thing (!) Trouble arose during installation, but the support promptly fixed it on request and everything works; there is a client for Android/Linux).
2. File synchronization is excellent and fast.
3. With notes, of course, it’s not as beautiful as in Evernote, but it’s still nice because it’s your own :-)
ZYZH The plans are to transfer all this to a physical machine at home in order to set up a torrento rocking chair / transfer room.

I recommend:
Owncloud - file storage + a bunch of plugins, look to taste.
Attention : the client on the phone is paid, everything else is free.
Zimbra mail calendar, etc.
About mail: if the server is at home, then there may be a rake with a closed port 25 at the provider or the provider is in the blacklists with its ranges.
It's easier to make LAMP yourself, or put ISPConfig at least, but IMHO this is an overhead
