What is Serverless Data Processing?

In it, in the second part, "predictions" for 2018 are made. And the first point is the following:
"The resounding success of serverless data processing."
But not a word revealing the topic has been written :) maybe someone can share links to articles that talk about this technology?

The name is strange. This is when the cloud platform does not allocate a server (virtual machine, container), but some function, and it doesn’t matter on which servers it works.

serverless data processing is a bad term, perhaps badly translated into Russian. The bottom line is that you are not doing server development, but using different APIs. so there is a server here in any case, you just don’t bother with its maintenance and don’t have access to it at all, except for api.
For example, saving a picture, classically you write a script on the server, and in the context of "serverless data processing" you send a post request with a token to some cloud service and receive a link to the photo in response. You have no idea how it was preserved there, etc.
