What is redundancy in RAID arrays?

Hey!
Tomorrow is the day of the interview.
Before me there was a task: to repeat any miscellaneous about Hardware, linux/bsd and networks.
In general, I didn’t deal with arrays before, I only read about them. So, actually, I did not understand what redundancy is?
