What is interesting to choose as the topic of a diploma in the field of intelligent systems?

In a year (next summer) it will be necessary to defend a bachelor's degree, I decided to decide on the topic in advance and start doing it in order to get not just any diploma, but more or less interesting and practical. I agreed with the teacher on intellectual systems that he would be my supervisor.
On an AI course, I did a small term paper on parking a truck in reverse on odd logic and on neural networks. In general, the tasks associated with autonomous robots and medicine (the whole family of doctors) are very interesting. I myself program in python, a little in C ++ (I used to work as a C ++ programmer, but now I have forgotten a lot), now I am taking a course on microcontrollers (on cortexes on edx.org).
The peculiarity lies in the fact that I study at the evening faculty and they don’t expect much from us, but require even less in terms of knowledge. To provide an approximate level required from evening students, I’ll say that in the course of object-oriented programming they want us to use a regular doubly-linked list with bubble sort as a coursework. So, I want an interesting and moderately complex graduation project with real results that can be felt, which, perhaps, will have some applied value. The teacher wants the result to crawl/ride/fly, not just be a computer simulation.
There is still time to choose a topic and learn the necessary theory for it. But I’m at a loss in choosing a topic - I don’t want a very simple one (a la a cart with ultrasonic sensors rolling around the room), but for something really complicated (a google car or a robot surgeon) there simply won’t be enough strength or money.

In order to crawl / fly / ride, you need skills in robotics. Do you have them?
IMHO, at this stage it is relevant for the web to make systems for personalizing Internet sites based on user behavior. Perhaps this direction will also be of interest to you.

How about a quadcopter playing ping pong?
You will hold a championship on defense, and for each beaten member of the commission you will demand a plus point to the assessment.

In general, if you remove the item about "crawling-driving-flying", right now I can say where you can apply your knowledge, so that everyone is cool. Just yesterday I even saw a vacancy on the topic.
