What is hot in drupal now?

There is a task to make a module for Drupal. And, accordingly, the question is, how relevant are versions 6 and 7, or has everyone already switched to 8 and do it only on it?
What is used for ubercart online stores or is there something else?

As soon as official support is discontinued, the version is out of date.
I would no longer consider 100%
Well, in terms of laboriousness, look.

6 can be forgotten.
Development under 7 and 8 should differ radically.
I would choose 7 for mainstream.
If for one client, then there is still time until 8.

For more or less complex and large projects, I use version 7, for which there are most of the necessary modules.
If you want to experiment and the project is not too complicated - you can take the eight.
Online stores are written in Drupal Commerce.
