What is CoreOS?

I've been using Ubuntu for a long time on a web server, previously used Debian, CentOS.
And now I hear more and more about such a "fashionable" beast as CoreOS.
What is this system? What are the main differences from the usual deb/rpm-based distributions? For what purposes is it used?
I would like to play around, and possibly in the future and use it in "combat operations".

Why not just read about it on the official website ?
In case you are struggling with English: CoreOS is a lightweight distribution tailored for deployment in a cluster, incl. via PXE/iPXE boot. There are two main mechanisms needed for this on board: Docker (lightweight containers for running processes) and etcd (distributed key-value storage for replicating configuration parameters). And there is nothing more needed there, because. useful processes are launched to containers.
For "playing around", especially as a desktop, it does not fit at all ... except that you will "play" with clustering. Then it is really possible, incl. and on one machine, if you raise a virtualizer on it (for example, VirtualBox), but there is no point in this, except for a general acquaintance. In short, if the goal of games is not to build your own cloud, then feel free to pass by.

I also read a lot and did not understand why it is fundamentally better than some centos or ubunta on which the docker and itisidi were installed. I immediately throw a dozen advantages of Ubuntu (community, support, etc.), but what are the advantages of Koros?
