What is an omnivorous dynamic array like ArrayList in Windows 8 application?

Need an omnivorous dynamic array like ArrayList in Windows 8 application. For some reason Arraylist does not work (System.Collections is connected). What are the alternatives, since a strongly typed List<> is not suitable for the task.
