What is an OCR version of a book?

On the torrent I find distributions without mentioning OCR and in the topic itself there is a link to the same book, but already marked OCR, and the book is rather old, from the 80s. Aren't all e-books, especially older ones, OCR? Or does it mean that in the first case the book is typed by hand?
